Our first customer ”visit”!

Presenting ABB, visiting the Volvo factory and getting to know new people. All from our very own desk at home!
Traditionally the trainee group travels around the country to visit customers and their production sites. As you all know by now, this past year has been a bit different but the optimism for having a visit on site was high during fall. As time progressed, we soon realized that this was no longer an opportunity for us, so we needed to rethink. We therefore contacted the trainee group at Volvo Cars to further investigate the possibility of having a digital visit.
After a few months of planning we finally met up digitally for a day full of learning and networking. The morning session kicked off with having a joint presentation of the trainee programs respectively and was followed by a networking fika in smaller break-out rooms.
After that, it was time for ABB’s session. We had speakers from ABB talking about e-Mobility and Industry 4.0 as well as a digital tour of the Robotics production site in Västerås. We would like to thank Frida Jalkenäs, Erik Helander, Simon Mårtensson, and Fredrik Hansson for presenting the different subjects to us and the Volvo trainee group.
After a longer lunch break were we all enjoyed some home delivered food together with a networking session we started the afternoon with a sustainability panel discussion with Lena Westerholm, Global Sustainability/HSE Manager for RA, and Jonas Otterheim, Head of Climate Action at Volvo Cars. It was a very interesting and inspiring session where we learned more about the strategies that the companies have, what visions we share, and what separates the two strategies. A big thanks also to Lena for participating.
The session hosted by Volvo included topics such as electrification of the car market and engineering manufacturing. We also got to see a short movie from the production site at Torslanda together with narrative from the people that usually hosts the tour on site. It was so much fun seeing how ABB’s products and solutions are used in real life!
After the Volvo session we rounded up the day and had a digital AW, which is something we have mastered by now. I would like to end this blog post by thanking all the participants but especially the rest of the project team from both Volvo and ABB, job very well done!
