ABB’s top lawyer raises the bar for ethical behavior

Diane de Saint Victor, ABB’s General Counsel, named on Ethisphere's prestigious “Attorneys Who Matter” list for 2016

Global companies are increasingly recognized, and judged, by the way they conduct business around the world. Profit is no longer obtained at any price; ethical and sustainable practices provide companies with a license to operate. At ABB, ethical behavior and respect for people and the environment are mandatory as well as an integral part of our unique offering and the way we do business.

Therefore, it is with the greatest pleasure that I share the news that ABB’s own General Council, Diane de Saint Victor, has been named to the prestigious “Attorneys Who Matter” list for 2016.

The annual list by the Ethisphere Institute showcases individuals who represent the best and brightest in the legal field, those who have risen above their counterparts in ethical business practice, public service, legal community engagement, and academic involvement. Diane is one of the few non-US based attorneys to be included on the list, which also recognized legal officers at General Electric, Microsoft, Walmart and the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The 2016 list includes 105 individuals.

This external recognition affirms our internal experience of working day-to-day with Diane, who exemplifies the highest level of ethical and responsible business behavior – the foundation for a sustainable business – and positively influences our corporate culture. She and the others on the list are making a difference from boardrooms to courtroom, raising the bar for ethical behavior industry-wide. Their work highlights the growing importance of transparency and fair play in today’s global world.

The Ethisphere Institute is the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices that fuel corporate character, marketplace trust and business success. Ethisphere has been recognizing attorneys since 2009.

A French citizen, Diane joined ABB in 2007 as Head of Legal and Integrity, General Counsel and Company Secretary, and member of the Group Executive Committee. Her focus is on global corporate governance, legal, compliance and regulatory matters, international policy and government relations.

ABB was also named to the Ethisphere Institute’s list of World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2016, for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition demonstrates our long-term commitment to ethical and transparent business practices.
