Flashback: ABB at Cigré 2014

A look back at the event highlights and products that are shaping a stronger, smarter and greener grid (plus a video playlist).
Over 10,000 visitors, 200 exhibitors and four world-record exhibits and innovations at its stand – these are the figures that sum up ABB’s presence at the biennial Cigré event in Paris in late August.
Highlights include the record-breaking 525 kV extruded HVDC cable system – three meters of which was shown lying in both earth and water – as well as the new-generation 145 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear, whose design reduces SF6 insulating gas use by up to 60 percent, and an HVDC experience zone, where visitors could view components such as cables, semiconductors, converters and the breakthrough hybrid HVDC breaker.
